OUR BELIEFS

We are a church in the Wesleyan Pentecostal tradition. Learn more about our beliefs below.

Bible

We believe that the entire Scripture was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit – II Tim. 3:16‐17. We take the Bible as our ultimate guide in all things. We will not take out of the bible and we will not add to it. It is our compass as we journey through this Pilgrim’s path. – II Tim. 3:10‐15; Proverbs 30:5,6; Revelation 22:18,19; II Peter 1:21; John 17:17; Ps. 119:105.

We believe that the Bible is the written and revealed Will of God. Man’s position to God, the way to obtain salvation, woe and destruction awaiting sinners that refuse to repent and everlasting joy that is kept for the born again souls. All the Bible teachings are holy, what the Bible reveals as the will of God are such that we should accept, and whatever God writes in the Bible and His Law are to remain unchangeable; for the Heavens and Earth may pass away but the Word of God stands forever. Deut. 4:22; Rev. 22:18, 19; Matt. 24:34‐38.

God

We believe in the existence of God the Father, who has been in existence before the world began. He is the only true God who is the originator and creator of all living and non living things. He created both physical and spiritual creatures ‐Gen. 1:1; Ps. 86:9‐10; Is. 43:10‐11; John 1:1‐3

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus and that He is the Son of

God who was born by Virgin Mary. We believe

He died on  the  cross  of  Calvary  and  shed  His  precious  blood  to  take  away  our  sins.  We  believe  He  physically resurrected  from the dead and that He is the Savior of the World. It was through Him all things were  created ‐John 1:1‐14; John 14:9; Matt. 1:18‐25, Isa  7:14; 9:6; Isa 53:4‐10; I Pet. 2:24; John 10:11; Gal.  3:13, Matt. 20:28; I Cor. 15:3; Rom. 4:25; II Cor. 5:14; Heb 2:9; Heb 9:26.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God and He is

the third Person in the GODHEAD. The Holy

Spirit is in the same league with God the

father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit is

the Spirit of God on earth. He was released

in His fullness  after Jesus  left  after His  earthly ministry. He deserves our worship. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our Spirit.

He instructs and directs us. He convicts of

sin. He purges and purifies the heart. He

bestows upon the believers the gifts of the

Spirit John 14:16- 17; John 3:5; John 16:8; Eph 1:17- 19; II Thess. 2:13; I Cor. 6:11; I Cor. 12:7;Acts 1:8; John 15:26; Matt. 3:16; Acts 13;16:6‐7

The Godhead

That the Godhead is made up of three separate, distinct, and recognizable personalities and qualities perfectly united in one. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are different Persons in the Godhead, not merely three names for one Person. Mathew 3:16, 17; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Mathew 28:19, 20; Gen.  1:16‐29; Matt. 3:16‐17; Matt. 18:19.

Sinfulness of Man

That man was created without sin in the beginning but fell into sin after the devil who came

in the guise of a serpent deceived man. Every man born into this world after the fall is born

into sin and depravity making man a candidate of God’s judgment if man does not repent.

Mark 7:21‐23; Psalm 51:5; Job 14:4;  Romans 3:23; 5:12‐17; Ephesians 2:1.

Repentance unto God

Repentance is a sincere regrets and remorse for sin committed with a decision to turn away

from the sin. This is a mark that someone is prepared to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior

through faith. Mark 1:15;  Proverbs  28:13;  Isaiah  55:7;  Ezekiel  18:21‐23;  Mark  1:15;  Luke  24:46,  47;  Acts  2:38;  3:19,21;  2  Corinthians 7:10; Hebrews 6:1‐3; II Chron. 7:14;

Justification by Faith (Born Again)

We believed in Justification by faith which is also called being born again. This is made

possible through God’s unmerited  grace made possible through the death and resurrection of ourLord Jesus Christ whereby a sinner receives the forgiveness of sin and is saved and

counted righteous and able to stand before God as though he had not sinned.  Gal. 3:24; 2:16; Psalms 32:1,2; Isaiah 1:18; Micah 7:19; John 3:3‐8;; Acts  13:38,39; Romans  3:24‐30;  4:6-16; 5:1,2;  2 Corinthians  5:  9,  17‐21;  Ephesians  2:8,9;  Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23; I Cor. 6:11.

Restitution

This is a sign of genuine repentance. It is making amends for wrongs done against another;

this includes returning back what one has wrongfully taken restoring stolen, paying off debts owed, apologizing for wrong done and to those slandered so as to have a conscience void of

offence towards God and man. Ezekiel 33:14‐16; Genesis 20:1‐8; 14‐18; Exodus 22:1‐7;     2 Samuel 12:1‐6; Leviticus 6:1‐17; Numbers 5:6‐8; Proverbs 6:31; Mathew 23:24; Acts 23:1‐5; 24:16; James 4:17; 5:6; Luke 19:8,9

Water Baptism

Water Baptism is commanded in scriptures. It is an open declaration that a believer is

identified with the Lord. This is done after a person becomes born again. Water Baptism is byimmersion and this is done once in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy

Ghost as commanded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15; Romans 6:4, 5; Mathew 28:19; 3:13‐17; Acts 2:38, 39; 19:1‐6;

Holy Communion

Our Lord Jesus had the first Lord's Supper after which he commanded all believers to partake of it regularly might partake thereof regularly. This is done with unleavened bread and the juice of fruit of the vine. We have been warned not to partake in the Lord’s Supper unworthily as there are unpleasant consequences as a result. Mark 14:22-25; I Cor. 10:18, 21; Acts 2:42; 20:7; Mathew 26:26-29; Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-30.

Devils & Demons

We believe that there is the existence of a literal devil and there are demons. The devil has come to “steal, to kill and to destroy.” He controls the sinner and was the one who brought sin, sickness and death into the world. He is always on the move look for ways to prevent people from serving the Lord. He has demons also known as evil spirits that he oversees. He is got a limited time and will face the judgment of the Lord on the last day and be cast into the lake of fire with his demons. Matt. 4:1-11; James 4:7; I Peter 5:8; Matt. 12:24; Gen. 3:1-16; John 10:10. for one thousand years- Rev. 20:7-10.

Sanctification (Holiness)

We believe in entire Sanctification as a definite work of God's grace. This is second accomplishment of grace after salvation from sin. It is attained by the grace of God through the purifying blood of Jesus. You cannot achieve it by works, struggles or keeping a set of rules. It is an experience where your heart is progressively and completely purged. It is also known as Holiness of life and purity of heart and this is very important in our Christian walk.   Luke 1:74,,75; John 17:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 4:3,7,8; 5:22-24; Ephesians 5:25-27; Hebrews 2:11; 10:10,14; 13:11,12; Titus 2:11-14; 1 John 1:7; Hebrews 12:14; 13:12; II Cor. 7:1; II Thess. 2:13; 1 Peter 1:14-16.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.  It is the infilling of power from heaven. We believe it is the third distinct work of Grace upon the Believer after Sanctification. We preach Sanctification as one of the requirement before you can receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It’s initial evidence is revealed in speaking in tongues or in a language that was not previously learnt. It is the Lord that gives the utterance. We also believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gateway to the full manifestation of the Gifts of the Spirit. Mark 16:17; Acts 2:1-18; Acts 5:32; Acts 8:14-17; Mathew 3:11; Acts 1:88; Luke 3:16; 24:49; John 1:30-33; John 4:14-26; 7:37-39; 14:16,17,26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:5-8; 10:44-46; 19:1-6. 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; 14:1-40.

Gift of the Spirit

We believe the gifts of the Spirit are still very much present in our days. They are not just circumstantial as it is believed by some. It is very much real. We believe and allow the full manifestation of all these gifts as allowed by the Spirit of God Himself. The Gifts of the Spirit is very much needed in our days to enhance the work and walk of the believers in this present age. 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; 14:1-40; Ephesians 4:12; Rom 12:6; Acts 8:6; 19:6;

Evangelism

We believe in the great commission as commanded by our Lord Jesus. If evangelism is not important, Jesus would have taken us to heaven immediately we gave our life to Jesus. He expects us to preach the gospel and take personal evangelism very seriously. The Gospel must be preached to the ends of the earth. John 17:18; Acts 1:8; 8:1-4; Ezekiel 3:17-21; Mathew 28:19,20; Psalms 126:5,6; Proverbs 11:30; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-49; Daniel 12:3;

Prosperity & Success

We believe it is God’s will for us to prosper and succeed. The Bible is filled with loads of examples of God’s children who He prospered and made to succeed. We believe God is the owner of every good and perfect gifts and He will not withhold them from His children. We believe there are biblical principles of prosperity and success in the Bible that will unlock great doors for us when we believe them. However, we do not elevate the teachings of prosperity and success above the cardinal teachings of God’s salvation to all men and of living a consistent Christian life as revealed in the scriptures. Deut 8:18; Jer 29:11; Phil 4:19; Mal 3:10; 3 John 1:2; Psalm 128:2; 2 Cor. 9:8; 8:9; Psalm 1:3; Neh 2:20;  Deut 281-14; Jer. 29:11-14;  Luke 6:38.

Divine Health & Healing

Sickness was introduced as a result of the fall of man and we believe that Jesus paid for our redemption from sickness and “By His Stripes, we are healed.” Healing is an inheritance for God’s children and we can enjoy divine health without recourse to medicine. Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law of which sickness and infirmities are part of.  Exodus 15:26; Deuteronomy 7:15; Psalms 103:1-5; Proverbs 4:20-22; Isaiah 8:16,17; 1 Peter 2:24; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 13:16; John 14:12-14; 10:10; Acts 10:38; James 5:14-16; 1 John 3:8; 3 John 2; Galatians 3:13, 14.

Marriage

We believe marriage is ordained of God and it is the union between a man and a woman. That a man marrying more than one wife is not doing the will of God and God does not honor such. God hates divorce. We believe based on scriptures you cannot re-marry after you are divorced for as long as your spouse is still alive. I John 2:15-17; Rom. 12:2; ; Mathew 5:31,32; 19:3-9; Mark 10:2-12; Luke 16:18; John 4:15-19; Genesis 20:3,7; Genesis 2:24; Deuteronomy 7:1-4; Joshua 23:11-13; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Proverbs 31:10-31; Malachi 2:14-15; Romans 7:2,3; Ephesians 5:31-33.

Laying of Hands & Anointing the Sick

We believe in the laying on of hands and anointing the sick on the head in the Name of the Lord and that prayer of faith shall save the person – James 5:14-16; Mark 16:17-18. But we do not use any other methods which are not according to Bible teaching such as perform special washing for the sick in the flowing river, the use of robe or garment, or to carry a small stick in the form of a cross ones person or the use of candles and such things. They are not Biblical. The order of our Lord is that we should heal the sick free of charge – Matt 10:8. We do not receive money or charge money before we offer prayer for anybody. All those using the above materials for healing shall perish with them – Mark 16:18; James 5:14; Matt 10:7-8; Mark 6:13.

The Rapture

We believe the Rapture is the catching up from the earth of all believers who have been washed by the blood and are living a holy life and all who died in the Lord. Those who died in the Lord will rise first and then the believers who are alive will follow. The rapture is the first phase of the second coming of Christ and it will take place before the great tribulation. No one knows the time when this will happen hence the need for all to be prepared at all times. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:4-9; 2 Thessalonians 2:5-7;  John 14:1-3; Luke 21:34-36; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; Philippians 3:11,20,21; 1 John 3:1-3; Acts 24:15; I Cor. 15:22, 42-44.

The Resurrection

We believe that everyone born into this world is a never dying soul. The body will die physically but the soul will live eternally. We believe every person who has ever lived will be resurrected, some into eternal damnation while others into life eternal. 1 Corinthians 15:12-57; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16; Job 19:25-27; Psalm 71:20; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12:2; Philippians 3:8-11; Revelation 20:4,6,12,13; John 5:28,29; Hebrews 6:1,2.
